Mild cognitive impairment, known as age-associated memory impairment is a form of mild forgetfulness. Aging may affect memory by changing the way the brain stores information and by making it harder to recall stored information. The usual symptoms are deterioration in short-term memory, forgetting things that were a routine before and retaining little information after having read or heard something. It is important to recognize that mild cognitive impairment is not the same as Alzheimer’s disease, the latter being a much more serious and threatening condition.
